The Biosphere Reserve of Sian Ka’an by Muyil, surrounded by water, used to be a part of the Ancient Mayan trade route. Get ready to be enveloped by nature in one of the largest Reserves in Mexico where we will begin in the lush jungle of the the Archeological Site of Muyil, a shaded natural with a tall canopy of Tropical Forest transitioning into a wetland area, where we then proceed on a locally man-made boardwalk, to observe wild cenotes and a wide variety of birds will cross our path along the way. There is a nice bonus at the end of the walk: an observation tower which allows us to get a bird’s-eye view of the jungle, mangrove, petens and lagoons within a several kilometer radius.

We finally arrive at a dock where we meet our captain and begin our boat ride through the rest of the reserve, crossing through natural channels, slowing down to see eye to eye with intertwining mangrove roots, also a nursery for juvenile fish and a host to many air plants such as orchids and bromeliads. Once we park the boat at a dock, we jump into one of the channels and let the natural current carry us through the mangrove tunnel. The water is fresh and not too cold, just right, and the shade of the trees is perfect and the quiet sounds of birds and water as we let go and unwind into a moving meditation. After 40 minutes floating approximately, we walk back between the savannah of Sian Ka'an and start heading back between the two lagoons. We take you to a natural protected area for spider monkeys. Activities include a Mayan Ceremony, a zipline above a lagoon, canoeing, a cenote and walking through the jungle to observe spider monkeys. We have lunch afterwards with a Mayan family and visit their unique edible gardens and their stingless melipona bee project.

After an hour and ten minute drive, we arrive at the Mayan area. Life is different here. Animals and humans have learned to share the natural surroundings and allow us to experience their culture, their ancestral heritage in the land of the deer and the currasow. After an incredible adventure, we visit the Cahum's. A real Mayan community with open doors for all of us.

CAVE SNORKELING,

SNORKEL BY THE REEF OR IN AN OPEN CENOTE WITH A ZIPLINE

AND A CENOTE BETWEEN MANGROVES Enjoy a fun Snorkeling Tour in a beautiful cenote where the crystal clear waters allow great viewing of the fish life from above the water. This is a unique setting, surrounded by mangroves & an incredible Cenote only a few meters from the ocean, with the possibility of spotting fish, birds and maybe even a resident freshwater crocodile.

Option A CORAL BARRIER REEF - OPEN CENOTE - CAVE
We continue snorkeling by the reef on an hour and a half boat tour, visiting two snorkeling sites. What we see depends on our luck. Ask for the marine conditions to see if it is worth it.

Option B MANGROVE CENOTE - JUNGLE CENOTE - CAVE
We continue inland in an open cenote with a jumping platform and a zipline in between the jungle, part of the cenotes used by the ancient Mayan civilization.
Finally, we go to a cave, full of breathtaking beauty, and timeless formations everywhere. An oasis in the jungle. One of our favourite spots.

It's time for a small lunch with Mexican "Antojitos" and then back to Tulum.

This tour is perfect for the whole family, but requires some physical effort. If someone in the group doesn't want to do an activity at the moment, there is always the possibility to rest and skip the activity. This is a full day snorkeling tour This tour starts at 8:40 am. Sac Aktun is the longest flooded cave system in the world. Located just a 25 minute drive north of Tulum. This spectacular cenote, also known as Pet Cemetery, has an Oasis of incomparable beauty, speleological formations (speleothems),artificial and natural lighting, making. Divers are able to visit places like this one everywhere in the Yucatan Peninsula. This is the place for snorkelers. As we go through the cave, we can discover all sorts of shapes and colors and maybe spot some of the cave animals that have adapted to these conditions. This tour starts at 9 am or 1pm. Visit an open cenote, just 20 minutes away from Tulum. This is a short tour. Experience swimming in turquiose clear, semi-salty water, next to the ocean, in between mangroves. Learn how to submerge in between caverns and observe the fish and birds. Even a resident crocodile can be spotted on site sometimes.
